Unfortunately, I have seen z-tables written in different ways.
You have to look at the top of the z-table and it should show you how it works. I have seen some when they just have the lower tail values. I have seen others where they go from the middle of the distribution all the way to the right.
If you have a .08 it is in the body of the table and you have to go out to the sides and the top.
I will give you one that I have memorized and you can check your table.
1.96 should give you a p=.05 in the table. find the 1 and the .96 and you should see a .05 in the body of the table.
reverse this and look in the body for a .05, you should find the 1 and the .96 along the table.
If you don't get these numbers then your table is different.
