Could someone explain the difference between affect and effect to me? Thank you.

As a verb, affect means to act on or to move. The loss of the homecoming game affected the atmosphere in the whole school.

As a verb, effect means to bring about or accomplish. The Student Council effected new policies that brought many positive changes to the student body.

Affect is always used as a verb. My sprained ankle will AFFECT my ability to play tennis.

Effect is a noun. The EFFECT of the spilled perfume was everyone left the store.
