Check whether the given number is a solution of the equation or inequality.

2x+6=18;9

I know that I have to plug 18 into x but then i don't know what to do next. Help please? Thanks!

I will assume that x = 9 is supposed to be the solution.

set it up this way: (LS and RS stand for left side and right side)

if x=9
LS = 2(9) + 6 = 24
RS = 18
LS ≠ RS,

x = 9 is NOT a solution
