Can you tell me if these sculptures have open or closed contour?

I can't post the link but if you search the name and the numbers it should show up.

I see mother and child as open form, Virgin and child as closed form.
WHAT GROUP WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE MADE THE FIRST MEXICAN SCULPTURES AND WHAT EVIDENCE LED TO THIS BELIEF?
