Can someone explain to me the different appeals used in writing (ethos, pathos, and logos)?

Ethos is supposed to be emotional based and logos is logic and reason. I don't remember pathos though......I hope this kind of helps?
thanks
Ethos is persuasion because of the credibility of the persuader. Pathos is persuasion by appealing to the audience's emotions. Logos is appeal to reason.

As we consider the Presidential candidates, it's likely that the winner will be the one who has the strongest ethos. He or she will have to be admired, liked, and respected to win the nomination. Each campaign, of course endeavors to appeal to emotions, while logos, often is the weakest part of political campaigns. Check this site for more information.
