can not figure out how to simplify a problem into scientific notation

1 answer

Changing a number to scientific
notation gives you a number less than 10 multiplied by a power of 10:

3500 = 3.5*10^3
3.5 is less than 10; the exponent(3)
means that moving the decimal 3 places
to the right restores the number to standard form.

0.0035 = 3.5*10^-3.
The negative exponent means that moving
the decimal 3 places to the left will
restore the number to standard form.

I hope this will help.
