calculate volume of co2 produced by combustion of 40 ml of acetone in presence of excess oxygen?

3 answers

You need to know the density of the acetone in order to know the mass acetone taken. mass = volume x density.

1. Write the equation and balance it.

2. Convert mass acetone to moles. moles = grams/molar mass.

3. Using the coefficients in the balanced equation, convert moles acetone to moles CO2.

4. Convert moles CO2 to volume (I presume at STP?). moles x 22.4 = liters CO2 at STP.
