Not all beginning writers overuse the same things. Also -- are your beginning writers elementary, high school, or adults?

Ms. Sue asks good questions here. Not all beginning writers make the same mistakes. I would guess "complicated" is a good description of some beginning writers, but that's not a term used in grammar or writing advice. Too many clauses and qualifiers in one sentence can be confusing, if not monotonous.
