The night isn't really being given human qualities, it is being like a human, how do I put that in simple words?
The night is given human qualities (personification) . The angel kissing the darkness to represent the advent of sunrise. Sprite is a spirit; which is what an angel is.
The time between dawn and daylight can be very swift or seem to drag if you are having a rough time sleeping! So here's to a bright sunshiny day
