One canned juice drink is 20% orange juice; another is 5% orange juice. How many liters of each should be mixed together in order to get 15L that is 14% orange juice?

.2 x + .05 y = .14 (x+y)
and
x+y = 15
O.J.=(0.14)(15)=2.1 lit ers.

1. 0.2X+0.05Y=2.1
2. X + Y = 15
To solve by elimination,multiply
both sides of equation 1 by(-)5:

-X-o.25Y=-10.5
X + Y = 15

Y = 6 liters @ 5% O.J.
X = 9 liters @ 20 % O.J.
