A swimming pool is 30 feet wide and 60 feet long. If it is surrounded by square tiles, each of which is 1 foot by 1 foot, how many tiles are there surrounding the pool?

You will need tiles along all the sides ...
2(30) + 2(60) = 180
But you will also need a tile on each of the corners, so 4 more

total = 184
