A player kicks a football from the ground at an angle of 42 degrees above the horizontal with an initial speed of 23m/s.

a. How high will the ball rise?
b. How long will it be in the air?
c. What will be its range?

use the initial speed to find the vertical initial speed. Then at the top, it has zero vertical velocity

vfv^2 = viv^2-2*9.8*height
0=viv^2-2*9.8*h solve for h.

time in air?
twice the time it takes to go to the top.
vfv=0=viv*t-4.9t^2 solve for t, double it.
What is the range?
The range R=23^2*sin(2*42)/9.8=53.68m
^ means???
x^2 is a way to indicate "x to the second power" or x&sup2
