Did you read this in English or in Spanish? I don't recognize the title because I have only read Jorge Luis Borges in Spanish. The punctuation is different in Spanish and makes it clear who is speaking. I have no idea about the English. I'll see if I can find it Online.

OK. This is Diálogo de muertos from El hacedor. The stranger is Rosas and the soldier is Quiroga; therefore it is Rosas speaking to Quiroga.
