If you were in a smooth-riding train with no windows, could you sense the difference between uniform motion and rest? Between accelerated motion and rest? How could you make such a distinction with a bowl filled with water?

I think this question is an easy one if you think about it.

anyhow, as for the water in the bowl.
If you have ever drank something while riding in a vehicle, what happened to the liquid in the cup when the car went foward? And if it stopped,what happened to the liquid then? (meaning which direction did it shift)
