normal price for 3 = 3(8.99) = 26.97
new price for 3 = 2(8.99) = 17.98
discount = 26.97-17.98 = 8.99
rate of discount = 8.99/26.97 = .3333
They would be markdown at 33 1/3 %
Of course that should have been obvious from the beginning
no matter what the price, if you pay 2 parts when you should have paid 3 parts, means you got 1 part off.
and 1/3 = 33 1/3%
