In order to do fractions, you need to find the common denominator [bottom number]. IF they don't match then you have to multiply both of the numbers to have the same number.

For example questions 3 and 4 both have a common denominator, thus its easy to calculate.

3) (7/15) + (9/15) = (7+9/15) = 16/15

4) (2/21) + (1/21) =3/21= 1/7 ----A

Unlike 2 and 1

1) 11/40

120 is the lowest common denominator

Now multiply (23/40) by 3

And multiply (9/30) by 4

2) (5/6) + (1/2) = 4/3

(1/2) (3) = 3/6

(5/6) + (3/6) = 8/6 divide by 2 = 4/3
