"Find each of the indicated function value"
implies you want 4²x - 5x + 9 = 2
or do you want to find f(2) ?
I have a feeling it is the second interpretation.
if f(x) = 4²x - 5x + 9
f(2) = 4(2)^2 - 5(2) + 9
= 15
f(-3a) = 4(-3a)^2 - 5(-3a) + 9
= 36a^2 + 15a + 9
