What is the value of x in the equation
x/2+x/6=2
I found a common denominater of 6
3x/6+x/6=2
4x/6=2
mult. both sides by 6/1 and you get
4x=12
so x=12/4 or x=3
Is this correct/
Thanks for checking my work

I usually multiply be the common denominator right away, makes all those nasty fractions go away.

x/2 + x/6 = 2
times 6
3x + x = 12
4x = 12
x = 3

yours solution is correct but messier looking.
