FeSO4 + KMnO4 + H2SO4 ==> Fe2(SO4)3 + MnSO4 + K2SO4 + H2O
In this reaction Fe changes oxidation state from +2 on the left to + 3 on the right. Many students don't start this right; the first thing to do is place a coefficient of 2 for FeSO4 so you can compare 2 Fe with 2 Fe. Then Mn on the left is +7 and on the right is +2. Now follow the rules.
