Two resistors 10 Ω and 5 Ω are connected in parallel across a 15 V battery. What is the potential difference across the 10 Ω resistor?
Answer
5 V
10 V
15 V
20 V
I did the work as follows:
1/Req = 1/10 + 1/5.
1/Req = 0.3/1.
Req(0.3) = 1(1).
Req = 3.33 ohm.
Then,
I = V/Req
I = 15/3.33.
I = 4.50 A.
Then,
V1 = IR1.
V1 = 4.50(10).
V1 = 45V.
However, 45V is incorrect so what did I do wrong? Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
