16 mL x 0.5M = mL2 x 0.20M
what volume of water is required to make 0.20 M solution from 16 ml of 0.5 M solution?

Answer is 24ml as 40ml must be the volume of solution and volume of solute is already given as 16ml.
Sorry that wasn't volume of solute, the question is asking of the water required and so answer is 24ml.
