For the second, convert 3/6 to 1/2. I'd it's confusing, Make 1/2 to a decimal. = .5 or .50. Subtract 3 and .5 and you will get .2.5. Which equals to 2 1/2. Fr the first, convert w/5

Change the whole number to a whole number and fraction with the same denominator.
2 - 3/5 = 2 = 1 5/5
1 5/5 - 3/5 = 1 2/5
3 - 3/6 = 2 6/6 - 3/6 = 2 3/6
