I have four problems I'm having trouble with. I need to solve the equations by completing the square.
1) w^2 - 5w = 11/4
2) z^2 + 11z = -21/4
3) k^2 - 8k - 7 = 0
4) v^2 - 7v + 1 = 0
1) w^2 - 5w = 11/4
2) z^2 + 11z = -21/4
3) k^2 - 8k - 7 = 0
4) v^2 - 7v + 1 = 0

all 4 are of the easy type with the coefficient of the square terms as 1
remember to take half of the middle term, then square it, and add it to both sides
w^2 - 5w + 25/4 = 11/4 + 25/4
(w-5/2)^2 = 36/4
w-5/2 = ± 6/2 = ± 3
w = 5/2 ± 3
= 11/2 or -1/2
try the others in the same way
