You move the decimal to past the first number, like so: 2.0833333, then multiply by a power of 10 to keep the number the same. Since you moved the decimal two places to the right, you want the exponent to move the decimal back to the left two places as in
2.0833333 x 10^-2. Another example:
800.3 = 8.003 x 10^2
2.0833333 x 10^-2. Another example:
800.3 = 8.003 x 10^2
