Okay so scientific notation is making a really small number or a really big number into something readable. So your number is 0.00000387. To start with, move your decimal point until you get to anumber between 1 and 10.

In this case, it will be 3.87. Now count how many places you moved just to get to 3.87.

0000003.87

As you can see, you moved that decimal point 6 times just to get to 3.87. Now, since this was a very small number, your exponent will be 10^-6. Multiply the 3.87 by 10^-6 and you get:

3.87 x 10^-6= 0.00000387

So that's you final answer!
3.87 x 10^-6

Any questions? :)
