You pull a door open. If the force the door exerts on you is equal to the force you exert on the door, why don't you move?

The key is static friction, a frictional force that prevents two surfaces from sliding over one another. In this case, as you open the door, static friction caused by the ground essentially keeps you "anchored" and the door's force has no effect on you.
