1/4 of the t-shirts are pink

There are 3/4 of the shirts remaining.

1/2 of these 3/4 are white. so we multiply to get 3/8

the rest are purple.
we know 1/4 are pink and 3/8 are white.

Get a common denominator and add these two fractions and then subtract from 1 which can be written as 8/8 to find the fraction that are purple.
