1. My father is wearing a white shirt.
2. My father is putting on a white shirt.
3. My father wears a white shirt.

#1 is in the present continuous tense, but actually he is not putting on the white shirt. Right? How can I explain #1 compared with #2? #1 seemes to be different from #3 as well.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. #1 "is wearing" means he has already put it on some time in the past. #2 "is putting on" means at that precise moment, it is what he is doing. #3 "wears" could be exactly the same as "is wearing" or "does wear." #1 and #3 can be synonymous.
