who discovered the element gold and when?

Ive tried looking it up but a lot of answers are:
Known to the Ancients and they give an unknown date of when it was found. Is this correct since im pretty sure gold is very very old.

The gold element is one of the few elements on the periodic table with no definable individual being credited with the discovery.
