Find all solutions of the equation (sec(x))^2−2=0
The answer is A+Bk where k is any integer and 0<A<pi/2
Find:
A= pi/4?

(sec x)^2 = 2
(cos x)^2 = 1/2
cos x = ± 1/√2
we know cos π/4 = 1/√2
so x could be 45°, 135°, 225° , 315° ...
notice we add 90° each time
so the general solution is
π/4 + π/2 k, where k is an integer
matching this with A + Bk
A = π/4
B = π/2
(cos x)^2 = 1/2
cos x = ± 1/√2
we know cos π/4 = 1/√2
so x could be 45°, 135°, 225° , 315° ...
notice we add 90° each time
so the general solution is
π/4 + π/2 k, where k is an integer
matching this with A + Bk
A = π/4
B = π/2
