Asked by Amy

What are the important Supreme Court rulings on freedom of expression (flag burning)?

What is the Court's position on required flag saluting?

I can't find anything on the first question, but for the second question, I remember my teacher saying that flag saluting wasn't required, but I can't find any evidence of that, as far as precedents or amendments.

Thanks,
Amy :)

The National Lawyers Guild or nlg for thier website, should be able to answer that for you. Also try the ACLU.

Since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "<I>flag burning</I>" to get these possible sources:

http://www.esquilax.com/flag/index2.shtml
http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/flagburning.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_desecration
http://www.aclu.org/freespeech/flag/index.html

Under "<I>flag saluting court</I>" I found:

I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.

Thank you both!
