help i am stuck :
-8 - 5y = 12 - 9y
i got:
-8-12 -5y = 12-12 - 9y
-20 - 5y = 9y
-20 +20 - 5y - 9y

im so stuck idont understand this one can you please help me

-5y + 9y = 12 + 8

4y = 20

y = 5

20 = 2p + 3p

20 = 5p

You seem to be forgetting that multiplying two negative numbers produces a positive number. Watch your signs!

20 - 3p = 2p
+3p = +3p
20 = 5p
