phosphate is correct. phosphide is for binary compounds only; i.e., HCl is hydrogen chloride, Mg3P2 is magnesium phosphide, HI is hydrogen iodide, Mg3N2 is magnesium nitride.
The phosphate ion is PO4^3-
The phosphite ion is PO3^3-
The phosphide ion is P^3-
