Fariq has $X.
Edward has $(X+40).
Edward.
Bal. = (X+40) - (X+40)/5
Bal. = (X+40)-(0.2x+8)
Bal. = X+40 -0.2x-8 = 0.8x+32.
Fariq.
Bal. = X + (0.2x+8) = 1.2x + 8.
1.2x+8 = 7/8(0.8x+32)
1.2x+8 = 0.7x+28
1.2x-0.7x = 28-8 = 20
0.5x = 20
X = $40.
X+40 = 40+40 = $80.
Tot. = 40 + 80 = $120.
