Edward had 12 more stamps than Pete. After Pete gave Edward 15 stamps, Edward had twice as many stamps as Pete. How many stamps did Pete have in the end?

to start with,
e = p+12
e+15 = 2(p-15)
so,
p=57
so Pete wound up with 57-15=42
