a sample mixture of ch4 and c2h6 weighing 0.732 g burned to give 2.064 g co2. What is the mass of ch4 in the mixture?

Don't get sloppy in chemistry with no caps.
Let x = mass CH4
and y = mass C2H6 and set up two equations and solve simultaneously.

x+y=0.732
(x*44/16) + (2y*44/30) = 2.065
