an electron jumps from energy level to energy level two by absorbing a photon of energy 8eV. What is the most likely energy of the photon that will be emitted by the electron when it moves back down to energy level one

Your post is incomplete. You omitted the energy level from which the electron started. I assume, however, that if it absorbed energy and moved to energy level two it MUST have started at energy level 1. If that is true and it moved to level 2, the most likely transition is from 2 to 1 so it will emit an energy of 8 eV.
