4x^2-11x+3=5x+4 How do I solve this?

2 answers

4 x^2 - 16 x - 1 = 0

x = [ 16 +/- sqrt (256 + 16) ] / 8

x = [ 16 +/ - sqrt (16*17) ] / 8

x = 2 +/ - .5 sqrt 17

by the way by inspection you can see that it is going to be very close to
4 x^2 - 16 x = 0
x(x-4) = 0
x = 4 or 0
x=8 or 0
