HOW MANY FLUID OUNCES IN A 1/4 QUART? THIS IS CRAZY

Calm down, it's not that difficult. Your child is making valuable use of his last week in school.
Think back to your mathematics background - I'm sure you understand this sufficiently to explain it.
86/9 -- 9*9 = 81, so 86/9 = 9 remainder 5. Find the largest multiple of 9 that is less than 86
17/3 -- 3*5 = 15, so 17/3 = 5 remainder 3
73/8 -- 8*9 = 72, so 73/8 = 9 remainder 1
1 quart = 32 fluid ounces, so 1/4 quart = 32/4 = 8 fluid ounces.
