recall slope-point form:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
where
m = slope
(x1, y1) = point on the line
thus,
y - 5 = 2(x - (-1))
y = 2(x + 1) + 5
y = 2x + 2 + 5
y = 2x + 7
hope this helps` :)
