We will have to use less oil. World production has peaked and is dropping off, and formerly poor countries like China and India are using a larger share of it. Use more electric and hybrid cars. Use cars that can burn compressed natural gas, which we now have plenty of.
Increase the efficiency of cars and use more biodiesel fuel.
Build more efficiently heated and insulated houses. Get more electric energy from renewable sources, and safe nuclear power plants. We are already getting more electric energy from natural gas. Find better ways to use coal for electricity.
