There is a question that comes from a undergraduate application:
At the UM, we value a diverse community. How have your life experiences and background shaped you into an individual who will enrich the UM community?
I am an immigrants from China, I came here one year ago, but I do not know what to write that can make me more distinctive among all applicant. Anyone can give me some suggestions? Your suggestions will help me a lot!
Thank you.
In what part of China were you raised? City? Village?
Large family? Small family?
Exact language(s) spoken and cultural traditions observed (name and explain a few).
When and why did you and your family come to the US?
How long have you been studying English? Only while in the US? While you were in China before coming to the US?
Adjustment experiences you have had since coming to the US (good, bad, funny, or ??).
=)
To add to answering the excellent questions suggested by Writeacher, you could state your goals in life that have developed from your experiences.
Why do you want to go to UM? What do you plan to do with the education you receive there?
I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.
Please post your answer, so we can look at it and give you suggestions.
Thank you everyone!
