How do you find the inverse for the function y=4x+12 ?

y=f(x), so x=f^-1(y)

y = 4x+12
y-12 = 4x
y/4 - 3 = x

f^-1(y) = y/4 - 3
so, f^-1(x) = x/4 - 3
