complete solution to 12-|x| = 9 is

12-x = 9
-12frm both sides

-x/1 = -3/1 this what i get.

12 - x = 9
add x to both sides
12 = x + 9
subtract 9 from both sides
3 = x
--------------------------
x can also be -3
because |-3| = 3
