ZnCl2(aq)+Na2CO3(s)--> ZnCO3(s)+NaCl (aq) Balance the chemical equation and state solid, liq, gas, aq properly to each compound

Ok I have it balanced by 2 NaCl in the second part of the equation But now what is the total ionic and net ionic equations?

1 answer

The molecular equation is converted to the total ionic equation with the following rules:
1. ionic and soluble compounds written as ions.
2. insoluble compounds written as molecules and solids. Here is a simplified list of the solubility rules.

3. Gases are written as molecules.
4. Slightly ionized materials are written as molecules.

Then the total ionic equation is converted to the net ionic equation by canceling ions common to both sides of the total net ionic equation.
