Can someone help me solve this system by substitution?

y=x-5
y=2x

1 answer

y=x-5
y=2x
=========
from equation 1, y=x-5
plug this into equation 2 for y.
x-5=2x
x-2x=5
-x=5
x=-5

Now substitute x = -5 into equation 1 and solve for y. I have -10 but check my work.
