how do you find the coordinate of x in the problem x-4y=100 in other words how do i find out what x is and 4y what do the y stand for how do i get it

Your question is a bit unclear. You might have better luck copying the exact question out of the book (or wherever it's being asked).
It may help to find the formula for the linear equation. We can do this by:
x-4y=100.
you want to set the equation to y=
subtract off x from the left side
-4y=100-x
divide by -4
y=100/4-x/-4 or
y=1/4x-25
Now, plug in whatever your x is into the equation to get your y value.

slope = 1/4
y-intercept = (-25,0)
