Add 2 to both sides
x^1.4 = 5
Then either take the 5/7 root of both sides, or use logarithms.
1.4 log x = log 5
Assuming you use logs to base 10,
1.4 log x = 0.699
log x = 0.4993
x = 10^0.4993 = 3.157
x^1.4 = 5
Then either take the 5/7 root of both sides, or use logarithms.
1.4 log x = log 5
Assuming you use logs to base 10,
1.4 log x = 0.699
log x = 0.4993
x = 10^0.4993 = 3.157
