what is the chance of a woman having five female children in a row?

The chances are the same as her having five male children in a row. Of course, fewer males make it through gestation, but the difference in percentages is minute as to male/female conception, apparently.

The "choice" of male or female depends upon the father's sperm/genes. Some men seem to "create" more male or more female offspring than the odds would seem to suggest. However, you have only two choices--male or female, so...

Try throwing a die. How many even numbers in a row do you throw? How many odd numbers? The results should help you understand the statistics of this type of problem.
