        find value of x and y

    It depends what level you are at with your maths.
A graphical solution is to plot the two and see where the straight line x + y = 6 cuts
4xy = 35
Alternatively substitute
y=6-x
4(x)(6-x)=35
24x-4x^2=35
24x-4x^2-35=0
-4x^2+24x-35=0
and solve for x
